We packed a lot in during our short visit to Colorado. From the Rocky Mountain National Park, a visit to Boulder, Colorado Springs and more, we more than enjoyed our stay in this great state. And yes, we even made it up to Pike’s Peak Summit. And now, we know what goatheads are, and why we need to avoid them!
Mesa Verde. Native American cliff dwellings is a National Park. It is an amazing place!!! It is in SW Colorado between Cortez and Mancos on US Highway 160. October is a perfect time to come. It is a beautiful look into the past . Between 600 and 1300 a.d. native Americans carved out a living in the lofty cliffs of Colorado. Amazing!!!
You can enjoy a great breakfast or lunch at Absolute Bakery in Mancos, or dinner at Kennebec Cafe in Hesperus. Both are on US Hwy 160.

Depending on the weather and access, highway 550 between Ouray and Silverton (million dollar highway) is absolutely beautiful. Telluride is also a favorite spot of ours in the SW corner of the state
Keeping our fingers crossed for decent weather. Exploring Colorado is at the top of our list!
Also on the Western Slope of Colorado, you will find the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and the Grand Mesa which is the largest flat-topped mountain in the world. Western Colorado in October will give you gorgeous fall colors.
We can’t wait to visit Colorado. That is one state that neither of us have been to. Thank you for sharing where we should visit.
