February huh, well, it may be close to mardi gras, so see that in Mobile, otherwise, I was going to suggest the Cahaba River, Weeks Bay in south Alabama, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, also take the ferry over to Ft. Morgan. See Mentone, Alabama and go on up to Chehaw, highest point in the state. Finally, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Auburn University ag, horticulture departments.
Cindy – yes unfortunately we had to come through in February – but the Mardi Gras in Mobile would be really neat to see, and love to see the highest point in the state as well. Thanks so much for all of the suggestions – Jim and Mary
If you come through Huntsville, visit the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Monte Sano Mountain offers some decent hiking but February can get chilly. Huntsville loves it’s hockey so catch a Havoc or Chargers game if that’s your thing.
I live in south Alabama near Mobile. February is a great time to be here. Mardi Gras is a must see. Also, Bellingrath Gardens, the USS Alabama, and Fairhope which is a quaint town with community gardens, flowers planted everywhere. Also, the beautiful beaches of Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, especially the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. Gulf State Park has miles of fabulous biking/hiking trails and all types of camping. Blakey State Park in Spanish Fort is an old Civil War Battleground with biking and hiking trails as well. This is a beautiful part of the state. Please come See Us!
While in Northern Alabama see Cathedral Caverns and all the waterfalls we have. Lake Guntersville is also an awesome small town. It alot like Lake Tahoe.

We love hockey – so we may just have to try to hit a game. And we will hope for some decent hiking weather as well. Thank you for the suggestions.
